External memory for overloaded brains

Working memory is small. The internet is not. That mismatch is the whole product.

Offload the keepers. Download Restash.

You were never meant to hold all of it

Cognitive offloading is normal: calendars, shopping lists, photos of whiteboards. Social saving is the same move, poorly supported. The platform keeps the clip for engagement. You needed it for a Tuesday.

External memory only works if you trust you can get the item back. Trust dies after the third time you cannot find the hotel with the yellow door.

Thin attention, thick archive

When the day is noisy, you will not browse 400 thumbnails. You will type a half-remembered cue. That is why Ask sits at the center of Restash: it is retrieval for a tired brain, not a filing exam.

Keep the archive honest

Overloaded brains save in bursts. Fine. After a binge, pick five that still matter and ignore the rest. A second brain that forgives you is more useful than a perfect one you abandon.
